Well, look who's found their way to my little corner. Hi. I'm Jay. Thinks you should know: I'm 20, pescetarian, Christian, bioengineer, photographer, biromantic asexual, middle child, from Maine (northeastern-most part of the USA).
This is a multi-fandom blog. I used to have a list of the things that would appear here but it's too long to list. Who knows what'll pop up next. There will be Welcome to Night Vale, and Hannibal, and Supernatural for sure, though.
I like bees. And blood. And things that are green. Feel free to chat with me anytime. I'm pseudo social, for an internet hound.

I was having lunch with my friends today, and we began discussing our idols- as in who we hold as a role model. One of my friends was asked who her role model was. Her reply?

"Myself."

Everyone at the table immediately began scoffing and rolling their eyes. How conceited, they said. She thinks she’s such hot shit. She’s her own role model? Are you kidding me?

My initial reaction, I’m afraid to say, was much of the same. She’s so vain. But then I got thinking, and realized that was actually a phenomenal thing to say. She is her own role model. The person she sets her life after, the person she most wants to be like-
-is herself.

Is that really so conceited? Someone says they want to be themselves, that they don’t want to be anyone else. She expresses a bit of self-confidence and deeper thinking, and is instantly put down for it.

How dare you take selfies. How dare you say you think you’re cute. How dare you say you’re your own role model. Is it any wonder the general populous is so unstable and insecure? I’m ashamed that I didn’t speak up, that it took me so long to realize there was nothing wrong about what she said, and there was everything right about it. And I hope you all can think on this. It’s okay to think good things about yourself. And, more than that, it’s okay for others to think and say good things about themselves. Don’t be so hasty to make conclusions. If we want people to not be so insecure, maybe we should look at what we’re doing to make them that way.

Listeners, a lot has been made about the topic of beauty - and I don’t think we in the media always do our best to promote healthy self images. Movies and magazines and tv shows and advertisers love to use photo and video editing to make people seem skinnier, fairer and more appealing to a false ideal of human beauty. And I think this takes a strong hold of us - especially children. But remember - you are beautiful only when you do beautiful things. Full lips aren’t as beautiful as a full laugh. Skinny hips aren’t as attractive as a quick wit. Think about treating others right, and those others will flock to you in screaming droves. Just peel back those artificial layers, Night Vale. Unzip that name brand coat, those skinny jeans, wipe off that makeup, and gently - but very quickly - peel off that skin that’s covering up the true you. Look at those exposed eyes, dangling unprotected from their gaping sockets. Look at the blood and sinew slowly uncoiling from quivering bones. Admire that slippery viscera trying to squeeze under those dynamic ribs of yours. You are organic, to be sure, listener! Be proud of who you are.

My contributions for the WtNV Table-Top Role Playing Game!

I did all of the character profiles, which granted took a lot of time. But I got excited, and I didn’t like the idea that any of the character profiles would be done in different styles (breaks in continuity bother me).

If you guys like table top games, check it out!! It runs on a simple 2d6 system, and would probably work best as a story driven campaign. If you guys do decide to play it send me your campaign stories I wanna hear em!!
